Insilicos
Insilicos combines expertise in analytical chemistry, data analysis, and software engineering to develop proteomics-based measurements for cardiovascular disease, enabling smarter pharmaceutical design, better preventative care, and focused disease treatment. Insilicos collaborates with leaders in the fields of proteomics, bioinformatics, scientific instrumentation and clinical laboratory services in order to develop our multiplex protein analytics and offer consulting services for university researchers, biotechnology companies and clinical laboratories around the world.
Life
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in industrialized societies. The current state-of-the-art methods for CVD risk prediction identify only about one-third of individuals at risk for events. Insilicos's primary focus is on the development of a blood test to better identify those most at risk for CVD events, so that doctors and patients can work together to better manage risks and maintain healthy outcomes.
Science
Lipoprotein proteomics is an area of expertise for Insilicos. We believe that quantitative measurements of the proteins found in HDL particles and their posttranslational modifications are an untapped window into the health of the cardiovascular system. Combining current clinical variables and these proteomic signals, Insilicos applies cutting-edge machine-learning and statistical methods to identify the signals that are accurate and robust biomarkers for prognostics, theranostics and diagnostics.
Software
With an emphasis on cloud computing, Insilicos is moving proteomic, machine learning and statistical analysis from expensive custom computer clusters into agile, on-demand high-performance computing resources. Insilicos has a long history of providing high-quality software and support for the mass-spectrometry proteomics community. Insilicos is committed to contributing to the bioinformatics research community and is passionate about lowering barriers for researchers using bioinformatics software. To this end we provide almost all of our software as open-source, and are focusing on promoting cloud-enabled analysis.
